Abdullah Abdullah, the former Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, has condemned recent Pakistani attacks on the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar, stating that such hostile actions not only fail to resolve any issues but also increase tensions between the two sides.
On Monday, 8 Saratan (according to the Afghan calendar), Abdullah Abdullah wrote in a message posted on social media that a large number of Afghan civilians were killed and injured in the recent Pakistani attacks, expressing concern over the continuation of such incidents.
He emphasized that experience has shown that the use of force and military action has never been, and will never be, a sustainable or effective solution to resolving disputes. According to him, the continuation of this approach will only lead to further escalation of tensions and increased suffering for civilians.
The former Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation added that the only way out of the current situation is adherence to the principles of good neighborliness, constructive dialogue, and the peaceful and diplomatic resolution of disputes between the two countries.
The Pakistani military reportedly targeted areas in the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar in airstrikes on Sunday night. The Taliban have stated that at least 36 civilians, including women and children, were killed and 163 others were injured in these attacks.
In contrast, Pakistan stated that 29 militants were killed in the operation, and that the targets of the strikes were hideouts of the Pakistani Taliban.
