Nine Afghan detainees who had recently been released from Pakistani prisons were handed over today to the relevant Taliban authorities through the Spin Boldak border crossing in Kandahar Province.
According to the Taliban’s Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs, the group included women and children who had been detained in various areas of Karachi, Pakistan. The agency stated that these individuals had spent approximately six months in Pakistani detention facilities.
The report further indicates that some of the detainees had their personal belongings and cash confiscated during their imprisonment. According to information provided by the Taliban, most of those released are residents of Afghanistan’s northern provinces who had traveled to Pakistan for various reasons before being arrested there.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs announced that, in a separate incident, 79 additional Afghan migrants were released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing.
