Sources say that a former Afghan serviceman who served with the Khost Protection Force (KPF) during the former Islamic Republic was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khost province, ten days after returning from the United States.
According to the sources, the victim, identified as Nangyalai, emigrated to the United States following the collapse of the former Republic. He returned to Afghanistan just over ten days ago.
The sources added that he was killed in an attack by unidentified armed assailants. His funeral was held today in Khabashkhel village, located in the Matun district of Khost city, where he was laid to rest.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Taliban authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
It is worth noting that several other former members of the Khost Protection Force (KPF) have previously been killed in similar attacks by unidentified gunmen. Since the Taliban’s return to power, numerous reports have documented the killings, arrests, torture, and detention of former military personnel who served under the previous Republic.
