Local sources in Ghazni Province have reported the killing of an Afghan-Australian citizen, Mohammad Ali Ataei, in Jaghori District.
According to the sources, Mr. Ataei had returned to his hometown in Baba village, Jaghori District, after spending several years in Australia, believing that the security situation in Afghanistan had improved.
Sources say that he was shot and killed by unidentified armed assailants two days ago.
Based on the available information, the motive behind the killing and the identity of the perpetrators remain unknown, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
As of the time of publication, local Taliban authorities had not issued any official statement regarding the circumstances of the incident or provided further details.
