The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan announced on Wednesday that an Afghan national has been arrested in Vahdat city on charges of killing his father.
According to a statement from the ministry, the incident occurred at around 12:00 p.m. near a fruit shop on Samanian Street in Vahdat city.
Tajik police reported that an initial verbal dispute between the suspect and his father, Sahibdad Dawlatzadeh, escalated into a physical altercation.
The report further states that during the confrontation, the suspect allegedly stabbed his father twice in the chest and back with a knife.
Authorities said the victim died at the scene as a result of severe injuries.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that police forces promptly responded and arrested the suspect in the shortest possible time after taking immediate action.
The ministry emphasized that investigations into the motive and full circumstances of the incident are ongoing, and further details will be released upon completion of the inquiry.
