Based on published information, the mayor of Nuristan, along with several municipal staff members and the commander of a Taliban battalion, went missing during the floods. After hours of search operations, the bodies of the mayor, the battalion commander, and 23 other victims were recovered.

More than 93 people have also been injured in the disaster, while the fate of several missing individuals remains unknown. Rescue teams continue their efforts to locate those unaccounted for, and the death toll is expected to rise.

Local sources say the recent floods have caused widespread damage to residential areas, agricultural land, and public infrastructure. They added that the scale of the destruction and the difficulty of accessing some affected areas have created serious challenges for relief efforts.

Local authorities have urged residents in affected areas to avoid approaching flood paths and to cooperate with rescue teams to help facilitate relief operations and search efforts.
