Political activist Habib-ur-Rehman Hekmatyar has sharply criticized the Taliban's current policies, warning that the dismantling of national institutions and public legitimacy will confront the country with severe security challenges.
In a recent post on his X account, he stated that the removal of the national army, Loya Jirga, National Assembly, national anthem, and public legitimacy will weaken the ruling regime against security threats, depriving it of the capacity to contain instability.
Referring to recent clashes and security developments in Badakhshan, Hekmatyar noted that unless the path of understanding and power-sharing is chosen over the monopoly of power, similar guerrilla attacks and armed movements will spread to other provinces.
According to Hekmatyar, the continuation of this status quo will lead to the fall of military outposts, the blockage of supply routes, and an increase in surprise attacks.
He added that although Afghans do not favor war and insecurity, all citizens of the country have the right to participate in determining their political destiny.
Hekmatyar concluded by emphasizing that if the current situation persists and the monopoly of power is not brought to an end, the responsibility for any potential adverse consequences before history, the Afghan people, and the international community will rest entirely on the Taliban.
