EKarzai: Preserving Afghanistan’s Independence Requires an Educated Young Generation of Both Girls and Boys.

Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, says preserving the country’s independence is possible only when Afghanistan can draw on the strength and capabilities of an educated young generation, including both girls and boys.

Karzai made the remarks today, Wednesday, 28 Asad, in a message marking the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, once again emphasizing the need to provide educational opportunities to all citizens of the country.

The former president said that while achieving independence is a valuable accomplishment, preserving it will only be possible if Afghanistan becomes a strong country capable of relying on its own resources and capabilities.

Karzai stressed that a country’s strength depends on lasting peace and stability, national unity, and an educated younger generation. He said achieving these goals requires ensuring access to education for everyone.

He called for educational opportunities to be provided to all Afghan children, both girls and boys, describing education as a key factor in strengthening and advancing the country.

Karzai has previously called on the Taliban on numerous occasions to lift restrictions imposed on the education and employment of women and girls, in order to pave the way for a better and more stable future for Afghanistan.

His remarks come as the Taliban commemorate Afghanistan’s Independence Day during the reign of King Amanullah Khan. Amanullah Khan supported women’s education and equality. During his reign, Afghanistan’s first girls’ school was established, and the practice of optional veiling began at the royal court.
