The General Directorate of Examinations, now under Taliban control, has announced the start of the nationwide university entrance exam (Kankor) 1405 (2026) for male candidates in 15 provinces of the country.
The directorate said that the exam process began this morning (Thursday, May 15) in the provinces of Maidan Wardak, Parwan, Ghazni, Kunar, Baghlan, Faryab, Badghis, Logar, Kapisa, Paktika, Herat, Sar-e-Pul, Uruzgan, and Ghor, as well as the districts of Fayzabad, Baharak, Shighnan, Darwaz, and Khwahan in Badakhshan.
The Taliban’s General Directorate of Examinations stated that the Kankor exam process in these provinces will continue tomorrow. According to the directorate’s statement, the biometric information of candidates in these provinces was recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The directorate has not provided the number of candidates taking the Kankor exam in these provinces.
This year’s Kankor exam, like in previous years, is being conducted without the participation of female students.
