In Herat, the Taliban governor has emphasized the full implementation of Islamic Sharia law during a meeting with religious scholars and mosque preachers in the province.

According to a statement issued by the Taliban’s media office, Islam Jar, the governor of Herat, discussed the enforcement of Sharia provisions with religious scholars and mosque imams during the gathering.

He warned that Islamic Sharia laws would be enforced throughout society “without any exceptions” and stressed that public cooperation is essential in this regard.

Jar also called on religious scholars to cooperate with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in implementing Sharia and to play their role in the enforcement of Islamic rulings.

According to the statement, Herat’s religious scholars pledged their support and cooperation with the Taliban in the implementation of Sharia law.

The meeting comes amid reports that the Taliban have launched a campaign in Herat, ostensibly aimed at enforcing the hijab, during which women have reportedly been detained. The move has sparked public criticism and reactions.
