Following the activation of warning sirens in Kuwait, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement claiming that it had targeted U.S. military facilities in the country. The IRGC alleged that a number of American personnel were killed or wounded as a result of the attacks.
In its statement, the IRGC claimed that it had targeted and destroyed Ali Al Salem Air Base, a large weapons storage facility, a Patriot air defense system, and an MQ-9 drone hangar. These claims have not been independently verified.
The statement further claimed that two helicopter facilities at Al-Adairi Base were also targeted. The IRGC alleged that the attacks caused multiple casualties among U.S. forces and resulted in significant damage to military equipment and aircraft.
Hours earlier, the Kuwaiti military issued a statement announcing the activation of warning sirens and the country’s air defense systems. Authorities urged citizens and residents to seek shelter in safe locations and follow security instructions as a precaution.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has also announced that it has concluded its twelfth round of military operations against Iran. However, the command has not yet commented on the IRGC’s claims regarding casualties among U.S. forces in Kuwait.
Earlier this week, the United States confirmed the deaths of four of its military personnel following attacks attributed to Iran in Jordan and Syria.
