Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed concern over the recent events and protests in Herat Province, emphasizing that the country needs peace, stability, and social cohesion rather than violence.
In a recent statement, Karzai said that Afghans should be able to live in an environment characterized by security, mutual respect, and social harmony. He added that the current circumstances in the country call for tolerance, understanding, and respect for the fundamental rights of the people.
The former president placed particular emphasis on the situation of women, stating that the dignity, rights, and social status of Afghan women must be fully protected. According to Karzai, women should be able to live in their own country with respect, safety, and human dignity.
Karzai’s remarks come at a time when domestic and international reactions and criticism continue regarding the recent protests in Herat and the authorities’ response to them.
