According to informed sources, Mohammadreza Ehsani, a senior employee of Tamadon television, has been arrested by Taliban forces in the city of Kabul.
Based on initial information, Mr. Ehsani was detained by Taliban forces; however, the official reason for his arrest has not yet been disclosed.
As of the time of this report, Taliban authorities have not commented on the cause of the arrest, his place of detention, or Mr. Ehsani’s condition. It also remains unclear whether any specific charges have been filed against him.
Tamadon television has also not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
This development comes amid growing concerns in recent years over the arrest of journalists and media activists in Afghanistan, which has drawn attention from press freedom watchdogs and human rights organizations. These organizations have repeatedly called for the protection of journalists’ legal rights, transparency in arrest procedures, and the release of individuals detained for their media activities.
