Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has warned during a meeting with senior military commanders that any threat against Iran must be met with an “immediate, effective response, without geographical limitations.”
This marks Mojtaba Khamenei’s first publicly reported meeting with senior military commanders since he was appointed Iran’s Supreme Leader following the killing of his father.
According to Iranian media reports, he stressed that if attacks against Iran resume or Iranian officials are targeted, the country’s armed forces will determine the conditions for ending the war themselves.
Mojtaba Khamenei also called on Iran’s defence forces to acquire advanced equipment and capabilities to strengthen their intelligence and military resources.
During the meeting, Abdollahi, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces; Amir Hatami, Commander of the Iranian Army; and Ahmad Vahidi, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), briefed him on the country’s security measures and military capabilities across the region.
Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed as his father Ali Khamenei’s successor following the latter’s killing. However, he has remained out of the public and media spotlight and is reportedly living in an undisclosed location.
