The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan announced that its forces launched an attack on a Taliban outpost in the Karan wa Munjan district of Badakhshan province on Sunday evening, July 26. According to the front, one Taliban member was killed and two others were wounded in the operation.
Concurrently, local sources confirmed an attack on Taliban positions in Karan wa Munjan district. However, no further details regarding the full scope of the incident have been released by independent sources.
In a statement published on Monday, the NRF stated that the operation was carried out around 1:00 AM in the Sharan Munjan area of the Karan wa Munjan district.
As of the publishing of this news, local Taliban officials have not reacted to or commented on the attack or the casualties claimed by the National Resistance Front.
This incident comes amid an increase in military movements by anti-Taliban opposition groups in Badakhshan province in recent days. Previously, the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) also reported advancements by its forces in Zibak district, claiming to have downed Taliban drones and captured several of the group's outposts. In response, the Taliban declared that they had repelled the opposition forces' attacks and halted their advance.
