The New York Post reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to present information to U.S. President Donald Trump during their meeting that, according to Israel, indicates the Islamic Republic of Iran is expanding its nuclear activities at the Kolang Gazla Mountain facility. The report also claims that Tehran’s stated willingness to continue peace negotiations is inconsistent with its actions on the ground.
Netanyahu’s aircraft landed in Washington on Monday evening, July 27. He is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, July 28, following a period of strained relations with the White House. Iran-related issues, including the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, are expected to be among the central topics of discussion.
Citing a source familiar with the matter, the New York Post reported that Netanyahu’s delegation will present documents detailing Iran’s latest nuclear activities during the meeting. According to the source, Israel will seek to demonstrate that Tehran is not negotiating in good faith and is continuing to advance its nuclear program while participating in diplomatic talks.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel had obtained evidence suggesting that nuclear centrifuges had been transferred to the secretive Kolang Gazla Mountain facility for the first time since construction of the complex began in 2020. That report has not been independently verified.
According to the New York Post, it has long been suspected that the facility, located approximately 100 meters (330 feet) beneath Kolang Gazla Mountain near Iran’s Natanz nuclear site, is part of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. However, no conclusive public evidence of nuclear activity at the site has been released to date.
The newspaper reported that President Trump had previously acknowledged the absence of definitive evidence of nuclear activity at the facility, saying that this was why it had not been targeted in earlier strikes. He also told reporters last week that the United States had no intelligence indicating nuclear activity at the site.
Nevertheless, some reports indicate that Israel claims to have obtained evidence showing the transfer of nuclear centrifuges to the Kolang Gazla Mountain facility. Iranian officials have not issued an official response to these allegations.
Meanwhile, Trump recently warned that he was prepared to strike the Kolang Gazla facility if necessary. Reports have also emerged suggesting that U.S. forces are prepared to conduct a ground operation aimed at removing enriched uranium from Iran’s underground facilities, although these reports have not been independently confirmed.
The New York Post also cited a source in Jerusalem as claiming that Israel possesses documents indicating that the Islamic Republic has begun rebuilding its missile and drone programs. According to the source, these capabilities had been severely damaged by previous U.S. airstrikes.
The newspaper said Israel’s objective in presenting this information is to support its assertion that the Islamic Republic is not seriously committed to limiting its nuclear and missile programs during ceasefire negotiations with the United States. This claim has likewise not been independently verified.
The report further noted that the Kolang Gazla facility is considered less vulnerable to attack than some of Iran’s other nuclear sites because of its underground location and reinforced construction. This has increased the site’s strategic significance in security assessments.
The New York Post also reported that Trump decided at the end of last week to halt a campaign of strikes against targets inside Iran that had continued for 13 consecutive nights. The decision coincided with a new round of diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and ending attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the report, in addition to discussing Iran, Netanyahu and Trump are expected to address efforts to preserve the ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on the latest regional developments and broader security issues related to those conflicts.
Finally, the New York Post reported that Netanyahu, together with Trump and a number of world leaders, will attend a memorial ceremony honoring Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who recently passed away.
