Summary

Noor Rahman Akhlaqi, a member of the former Afghan republic’s cabinet, has said that the recent attacks in Badakhshan Province mark the beginning of a new phase of the Taliban’s weakening and decline in Afghanistan.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Akhlaqi wrote that the Taliban’s era of oppression and terror has come to an end, adding that the group is no longer capable of sustaining its rule.

He further stated that over the past two decades, the Taliban squandered numerous golden opportunities for Afghanistan through continued conflict and have now also failed to gain legitimacy both domestically and internationally.

Akhlaqi also called on political and media activists to unite in support of Afghanistan’s freedom, stability, and development, and to play their part in shaping the country’s future.
