Local sources have reported that several rockets were fired on Saturday night at a Taliban checkpoint in the village of Kasa-Tarash, located in the Qasan Valley of Andarab District. According to these sources, the rocket attack was followed by a clash between the two sides that lasted for several hours.
Local sources have not yet released details regarding potential casualties or damage, and no further information is currently available.
Previously, the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) reported an attack on a Taliban convoy traveling from Kabul to Badakhshan, claiming that seven Taliban members were killed and six others were wounded in the assault.
However, neither the Taliban nor the Afghanistan Freedom Front has officially commented on the recent incident in Andarab District as of the publication of this report.
In recent weeks, attacks by armed anti-Taliban opposition groups have escalated across several areas of Badakhshan Province. At the same time, reports indicate ongoing clashes in a number of the province's districts.
Following the brief fall of Lower Yaftal District to the Sepahian-e-Mihan Front for a few hours in recent days, fighting between Afghanistan Freedom Front forces and the Taliban has been ongoing since Thursday in the Zibak District of Badakhshan Province.
