The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) says that Slovenia has contributed 200,000 euros to support the agency’s programs in Afghanistan.
The agency, in a post on X today (Tuesday, 22nd of Sawr), thanked the Slovenian government for this contribution.
UNFPA stated that this support enables women and girls to access essential reproductive health services and critical assistance.
The agency added that this contribution also allows them to reach the most vulnerable people across Afghanistan.
This support comes at a time when the United Nations’ requested budget for humanitarian aid in Afghanistan for 2026 has been funded at only 14.77 percent.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had requested a budget of 1.7 billion dollars to support people in need in Afghanistan this year but says that it currently faces a 1.5 billion-dollar funding gap.
