Media sources report that the Taliban shelled areas in Chaman and Bajaur, Pakistan, from Afghan territory last night. According to these sources, at least one person was killed and another injured as a result of these attacks.
The sources added that one of the mortar shells hit a house in the village of Mohammad Hassan in the Chaman area. In this incident, two brothers were killed and wounded.
The sources also stated that several shops were damaged in the attack. So far, official representatives from both the Taliban and Pakistan have not commented on the incident.
These attacks come amid a rise in clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan, following a period of relative calm since Sunday.
On Monday, local sources told Afghanistan International that the Pakistani army had shelled parts of Asadabad, the capital of Kunar province, and the Syed Jamaluddin Afghani University.
Additionally, local hospital sources in Kunar reported that the death toll from the Pakistani shelling in Asadabad and the Sarkano district has reached 7 dead and 75 wounded. According to the sources, women and children are among the victims.
Local sources also mentioned that Pakistani forces shelled several villages in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, and after that, Taliban forces fired at Pakistani posts.
Pakistan has consistently accused the Taliban of supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but the Taliban has denied these claims.
