Sources say that Mullah Jan Muhammad Madani, an adviser to Hibatullah Akhundzada, was released from the Taliban intelligence prison on the guarantee of the Kandahar Ulema Council after being arrested in a bribery case.

According to sources, Madani’s case is now under review by Hibatullah’s office, and his release is conditional.

Sources said that the proposal for Madani’s release and guarantee was accepted by Hibatullah’s office, and he returned home from the Taliban intelligence prison two days ago.

According to sources, the condition for Madani’s release is that he explains the bribery allegations to Hibatullah’s office and convinces the office to clear him.

Sources added that if Madani fails to defend himself and the accusation remains, he will be sent back to prison.

It is still unclear whether Mullah Jan Muhammad Madani will remain as Hibatullah Akhundzada’s adviser or be removed from this position.

Sources had earlier reported on 20th of Sawr that Mullah Jan Muhammad Madani was arrested by the Taliban intelligence in Kandahar on 16th of Sawr.

According to sources, he is a member of the Qatar negotiation team, a member of the Kandahar Dar al-Ifta, and an adviser to Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Sources said Madani was arrested on charges of receiving 800,000 Pakistani rupees in bribes from a party involved in a murder case.

Mullah Jan Muhammad Madani is a close associate and adviser to Hibatullah Akhundzada and has had more opportunities to meet him compared to many others.

Sources added that Madani runs a school in Kandahar city with hundreds of students and provides advice to Hibatullah Akhundzada on important matters.
