Sources say the Taliban raided the office of the Women’s and Children’s Rights Research Foundation in Kabul five days ago, arresting six staff members from the organization led by Zarqa Yaftali.
According to the sources, there has been no information about the detainees’ whereabouts or condition since their arrest.
A source familiar with the organization said Taliban forces also seized the foundation’s equipment, documents, and other work-related materials during the raid.
The Women’s and Children’s Rights Research Foundation worked to promote the rights of women and children through education, advocacy, research, and the publication of investigative reports on their situation.
In January 2026, Zarqa Yaftali, the head of the organization, was awarded the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, an international honor recognizing contributions to human rights and social cohesion.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the report or responded to the allegations made by the sources.
