Abdul Latif Mansoor, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development under the Taliban administration, has confirmed that the brother of Abdul Rashid Dostum requested firearms last year through an official application to the Prime Minister’s Office, and this request was accepted after the issuance of an order.
According to him, this action was taken based on justice, and the direct approach for making the request was considered a valuable move by the Taliban administration. He did not provide further details on the decision-making process.
These statements were made during a meeting in Kabul focused on the justice of the Islamic Emirate and the resistance of opponents. Some issues related to the government structure and the Taliban administration’s viewpoints were also discussed in this meeting.
The approval of granting weapons to a political figure comes at a time when the Taliban administration has consistently emphasized the monopoly of weapons within their own forces. This raises questions about the criteria for weapon distribution and transparency in decision-making.
So far, no further details have been released regarding the type, quantity, or manner of use of these weapons, and Taliban officials have not provided any new explanations on this matter.
