The Taliban police command in Daikundi says that two young brothers drowned and died in a lake in Miramor district of the province.

According to a report by Daikundi National Radio and Television, quoting the Taliban police command, the incident occurred before noon on Saturday (May 29) in a lake in the “Pay-Bagh” area.

The report states that the two brothers were 17 and 25 years old and had gone to the lake for recreation and fishing.

Deaths caused by drowning increase in different parts of Afghanistan during the hot season.

In most cases, the cause of such incidents is reported to be carelessness and lack of swimming skills.

Last Wednesday, on the first day of Eid al-Adha, three teenage boys in the Malistan district of Ghazni province also drowned and died while swimming in a dam.

Local sources told Etilaatroz that one of the teenagers first went underwater due to lack of swimming skills, and the other two drowned one after another while trying to rescue him.
