The United Nations has announced that Afghanistan is facing simultaneous crises of economic hardship, widespread unemployment, and climate change a situation that has led to rising food prices and worsening food insecurity in the country.
The UN’s World Food Programme has warned that the continuation of these crises has reduced special food reserves used to treat malnutrition among women and children.
Raqeeba Ahmadi, a resident of Fayzabad city, said: “We give the little food we can afford to our children, but it is not enough.”
According to her, her young daughter suffers from malnutrition, and her husband is also unemployed.
The United Nations has emphasized that women and children in Afghanistan are more affected by hunger and food shortages than others.
