According to the sources, the detainees were subjected to beatings and torture during their detention.

According to the information provided by the sources, the detainees were released after mediation efforts by local elders and residents. However, the sources claim that hours after their release, Taliban forces returned to the home of Jahangir Rahmani, a former Afghan military officer, in Khahan District and arrested him again.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident or the allegations raised by local sources, and the information has not been independently verified.

The incident comes two days after the National Soldiers Front announced that it had captured Yeftal-e-Payin District of Badakhshan Province and disarmed Taliban forces in the area.
