Yasin Zia, leader of the Afghanistan Freedom Front, says the group’s objective is not to seize the Taliban’s position, but to put an end to what he describes as “the monopolistic rule of an armed group.”
In remarks, Zia said the Afghanistan Freedom Front’s struggle to establish a law-based, elected, and inclusive political system in Afghanistan continues. Such a system, he said, should be founded on political participation and the rule of law.
The Freedom Front leader also called on the international community not to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate representatives of the Afghan people and urged efforts to create the conditions for the establishment of an inclusive political system in the country.
“Our goal is to transition Afghanistan from armed rule to a lawful and inclusive order,” he said.
The remarks come as the Taliban have controlled Afghanistan since returning to power in August 2021. To date, no country has formally recognized the Taliban government.
