A Syrian political activist has stated that prominent Shiite clerics and figures have been subjected to “horrific” and inhumane treatment in detention centers in Damascus.
Mahmoud Al-Mawaldi said that elements affiliated with the Jolani regime have targeted religious minorities, especially Shiites, in Damascus prisons. According to him, the continuation of such actions could lead to the spread of sectarian strife and weaken Syria’s social structure.
He also called on Islamic communities and international organizations to independently investigate these allegations and take immediate action to prevent the continuation of such behavior.
So far, officials affiliated with the regime have not issued any official response to these claims.
