Traffic accidents are among the most frequent incidents in Afghanistan. Poor road infrastructure, reckless driving, lack of traffic signs and regulations, the use of narcotics by some public transport drivers, and weak oversight are cited as the main factors contributing to the rise in such incidents.
Last month, a vehicle carrying returning migrants from Pakistan also overturned in Laghman Province, killing 20 people and injuring 33 others.
