Summary

Pakistani federal investigators have announced the arrest of 14 Afghan citizens in the city of Peshawar on charges of using fake Pakistani identity documents. According to the authorities, the individuals were planning to travel abroad using forged documents.

The security operation was carried out in the Taj Abad area of Peshawar at a guesthouse. Security forces raided the location after receiving intelligence reports and seized several suspicious documents, including Pakistani passports and national identity cards.

According to information released by Pakistani officials, preliminary investigations indicate that the detainees had paid between 2.5 and 2.8 million Pakistani rupees to obtain the forged documents.

Reports suggest that the individuals intended to travel to Saudi Arabia using fake Pakistani identities.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) stated that the available evidence points to the possible existence of a large document forgery network operating on both sides of the border, in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistani authorities have also suggested that some employees linked to the national registration authority and passport offices may be involved in the case, which is currently under investigation.

Security sources in Pakistan emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests related to the case are possible.
