Summary

The Afghanistan united front has claimed responsibility for an operation in Kandahar that allegedly killed two Taliban members.

The Afghanistan united front, led by Sami Sadat, a former commander of Afghanistan’s special forces, has announced that two Taliban members were killed in another operation targeting Taliban positions in Kandahar city.

In a statement issued on Friday, 30 Asad, the group said the operation was carried out in the area covered by the sixth security district of Kandahar city. The Afghanistan United Front did not provide further details about how the operation was conducted.

The announcement comes a day after the group released a video claiming that a Taliban intelligence officer had been killed in the same security district of Kandahar city.

Taliban officials have so far made no comment on the attacks or the reported deaths of their members. The claims have also not been independently verified.

Attacks by the Afghanistan United Front, led by Sami Sadat, against Taliban forces and facilities in Kandahar have increased in recent weeks. The group has claimed responsibility for several other attacks targeting Taliban positions in the province.

The Afghanistan united front launched its first military operation on 8 Asad along the Kandahar–Spin Boldak route. Since then, the group has reported carrying out several operations against Taliban forces in Kandahar.
