In the continuation of educational restrictions for girls in Afghanistan, the expansion of online education as an alternative solution has drawn the attention of many institutions and students. While the doors of schools remain closed for girls above the 6th grade, digital platforms are attempting to fill the gap in the educational system to some extent.
One of these initiatives is the educational platform “SulaX,” which, with the goal of providing equal access to education—especially for girls—has expanded its curriculum. This platform has recently made science subjects available for 10th and 11th grades free of charge, aiming to provide opportunities for further education.
The program’s officials have announced that over 35,000 students have registered on this platform so far. This number reflects the widespread interest in online education and the urgent need for educational alternatives in the current situation. According to them, a significant portion of the users of this program are girls who have been deprived of in-person education due to the existing restrictions.
Educational experts believe that online education can address some educational needs in the short term, but challenges such as limited access to the internet, lack of technical resources, and disparities in the quality of education remain significant obstacles. However, the development of such programs can create new opportunities for learning.
Overall, the increasing number of registrations in online educational platforms indicates that the desire for continued education among students, particularly girls, remains high. This trend can play a crucial role in maintaining educational continuity and preventing students from falling behind in the learning process, although there is still a need for sustainable and comprehensive solutions in this area.
