German police announced that at least five people were killed in a shooting in the city center of Stade, in northern Germany, on Monday. Authorities also said that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Stade is a city in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. No information has yet been released regarding the motive or cause of the shooting.
Police have urged the public to avoid the area for their own safety and to follow officers’ instructions at the scene.
According to broadcaster NDR, a large number of emergency responders and psychological support counselors are also present at the scene.
