For the first time in Afghanistan, the office of the Afghanistani National Neurosurgical Society has been officially inaugurated. Dr. Khalid Zadran, a neurosurgeon, described the initiative as a historic milestone for the country’s healthcare sector, stating that the society will promote professional unity among Afghan neurosurgeons, strengthen scientific collaboration, and support the advancement of neurosurgery in Afghanistan.
According to Dr. Zadran, Afghan neurosurgeons had previously lacked a national professional association to represent them and bring them together under a unified platform. He added that the establishment of the society fulfills a long-standing aspiration to foster greater professional solidarity and advance the field of neurosurgery in the country.
Officials of the society stated that the Afghanistan National Neurosurgical Society will focus on medical education, scientific research, professional collaboration, and capacity building for physicians, with the goal of elevating neurosurgical services in Afghanistan to international standards.
Dr. Zadran described the establishment of the society as a shared achievement for all Afghan physicians and expressed hope that, through collective efforts, patients across the country will benefit from higher-quality, internationally aligned neurosurgical and healthcare services.
