A senior U.S. official told Fox News that on Friday the U.S. military used six military aircraft to carry out airstrikes against four targets in Iran.
According to the report, the targets were located along Iran’s coastline, near areas surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, as well as on the strategically significant island of Qeshm.
The official stated that Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz, is an important strategic area under Iranian control and is considered one of the key points along international shipping routes.
So far, U.S. officials have not released further details regarding the outcome of the strikes, potential casualties, or the facilities that were targeted.
Iranian officials have also not issued any official response to Fox News’ claims at the time of publication.
The report comes amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran in recent weeks, with the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz raising international concern.
