Summary

In the Waghaz district of Ghazni Province, sources say that late last night (Thursday, 2th July ), around 12:00 a.m., unidentified armed men shot and killed a commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) named Khalid Masood.

According to the sources, he was targeted while leaving a local TTP camp in the area, and the attackers managed to flee the scene after the incident.

The sources also shared an image of the commander’s body.

Previously, last week, another TTP member was also killed in Kandahar by unidentified motorbike gunmen in a similar shooting incident, although the Taliban have not yet issued any official response to either of these incidents.

Pakistan has long accused the Afghan Taliban of providing safe haven to TTP members. However, the Taliban have rejected these allegations, insisting that no terrorist groups are present in Afghanistan and that the TTP issue is an internal matter of Pakistan.
