India registers comprehensive victory over Afghanistan in second one-day International.

The Afghanistan national cricket team suffered a 170-run defeat against India in the second match of the One Day International (ODI) series. With this result, India secured its second consecutive victory and clinched the series title before the final match.

The match was played on Wednesday at the Lucknow Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to field first. India was bowled out for 402 runs in 49.5 overs. Indian captain Shubman Gill played a pivotal role with an outstanding 154 runs, while Ishan Kishan contributed 125 runs to help India post the massive total.

For Afghanistan, Nangeyalia Kharote delivered an impressive performance with four wickets, while Rashid Khan Arman claimed three wickets.

Chasing the target, Afghanistan struggled to build momentum and was bowled out for 232 runs in 44.3 overs. Rahmat Shah Zurmati top-scored for Afghanistan with 79 runs, while Sediqullah Atal added 42 runs.

For India, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar were instrumental in restricting Afghanistan’s batting lineup, taking three wickets each.

The third and final match of the series is scheduled to be played on 30 Jawza 1405 (June 20, 2026) at the Chennai Cricket Stadium. The match will be a dead rubber, as India has already secured the series title.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced that Rahmanullah Gurbaz has become the seventh player in Afghanistan’s cricket history to score 2,000 runs in One Day Internationals. He achieved the milestone in his 54th ODI appearance for the national team.
