Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was elected once again as the Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) for the seventh consecutive year during the elections for the parliament’s presiding board. The election was held in the presence of members of parliament, and the result confirmed the continuation of his leadership over the legislative body.
According to reports, Ghalibaf secured a majority of votes in the ballot, enabling him to once again gain the confidence of lawmakers and remain in the position of Speaker of Parliament.
This election was conducted as part of the annual process of selecting the parliament’s presiding board in Iran, during which members of parliament vote internally to choose the Speaker and other board members.
Reports indicate that the result means Ghalibaf will continue managing Iran’s parliament during the institution’s new working term.
