Summary

General Sami Sadat, leader of the United Front, says that the Taliban have placed Afghan civilians at risk by providing safe havens to armed groups.

In a message posted on his X account, Sadat said that the Taliban are responsible for turning Afghanistan into a safe haven for terrorist groups. He stressed that ordinary Afghans should not be made to pay the price for the Taliban’s support for terrorist groups.

He added that Pakistan is also responsible for its military actions, and that the presence of armed groups can never justify “indiscriminate attacks and the killing of civilians.”

Sami Sadat said that Afghanistan must be freed from terrorism and that those who provide shelter to terrorists must be held accountable and answer for their actions.

Sadat made these remarks after Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said that Pakistani fighter jets had carried out airstrikes on residential areas in Shaltan District of Kunar Province and Garmser District of Helmand Province on Thursday morning.

Mujahid claimed that nine civilians were killed and 11 others were wounded in the strikes.
