U.S. media outlets have reported that at least three people were killed and seven others injured following a shooting at a restaurant in the city of Twin Falls, Idaho.
The Associated Press reported that the incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, 10 Asad.
According to the report, the shooting took place inside a restaurant called “In-N-Out,” which had opened one week earlier inside a shopping center.
Josh Palmer, the public information officer for the city of Twin Falls, said during a press briefing that three people were killed and seven others were injured in the shooting.
He added that the body of the suspected shooter was also found at the scene.
A witness named Lynn Cohen told The Associated Press that an individual armed with an AR-style rifle began shooting at people, after which another person who was likely a civilian but carrying a handgun engaged the shooter.
According to Cohen, the restaurant was crowded with people who had gathered there for food and drinks at the time of the shooting.
Josh Palmer said that the identity and motive of the attacker have not yet been determined, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Due to the widespread availability and legal ownership of firearms in the United States, incidents involving gun violence remain a significant concern.
The Gun Violence Archive reports that tens of thousands of gun-related incidents are recorded across the United States each year. Last year, out of 38,368 reported incidents of gun violence, 425 involved shootings in which multiple people were targeted.
