An Afghan activist, Chang Siddiqi, has raised several critical questions regarding the assets and recent statements of Fawzia Koofi, a former member of the Afghan parliament. He claims that this issue is still unclear to the general public and that there are various ambiguities surrounding it.
According to Siddiqi, Koofi has been claiming for nearly two years that the Taliban have seized her assets, but this issue remains unresolved and occasionally resurfaces. He also asked whether this is merely a legal dispute or the result of Koofi’s political positions and recent activities.
On the other hand, Fawzia Koofi recently stated that some Taliban officials, along with a number of former Afghan politicians and political opponents, have encouraged her to return to the country.
Koofi also claimed a few days ago that the Taliban had attacked her residence. According to her, three months ago, they raided her house, forcing her family to leave. She added that on April 28, her new residence was also attacked, during which several of her relatives and some residents of Badakhshan were detained.
Koofi stated that, so far, no accurate information has been shared about the status, health, and detention locations of the people who were arrested, while some of the detainees are facing health issues.
She considers these actions to be signs of fear and weakness within the Taliban and stated that such behavior reflects the internal situation of the Taliban. Koofi also emphasized that the struggle of Afghan women will continue until freedom and human dignity are restored.
So far, Fawzia Koofi has not responded to Siddiqi’s recent statements, nor has the Taliban issued an official stance on her claims.
This discussion arises at a time when various analyses are ongoing inside Afghanistan regarding the assets of former officials, their political connections, and the current situation.
