Sources have told media outlets that the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice has given residents of the Omid-e Sabz township in western Kabul until Thursday, August 6, to vacate their homes. According to the sources, this order was announced on Sunday during a meeting with neighborhood representatives (Wakil-e Guzars) and officials from local real estate offices.
Sources added that Taliban officials simultaneously sealed the real estate offices in the Omid-e Sabz township. To date, Taliban officials have provided no official explanation for this action.
According to a notice obtained by the media, starting Sunday, August 2, residents are prohibited from renting out their properties or collecting rent from tenants. The notice also emphasized that Thursday, August 6, is the final deadline to evacuate and leave the township.
This move follows a ruling by the Taliban’s dedicated court in early May, which declared more than 1,500 jeribs (approximately 740 acres) of land in the Omid-e Sabz township as state property—a decision that laid the groundwork for subsequent actions regarding the land's ownership status.
The Taliban initiated the process of reviewing land ownership in Omid-e Sabz in April 2025, after their Land Grab Prevention Commission identified a portion of the township’s land as state-owned.
As of the time of this report, the Taliban have not issued any further official clarification regarding the execution details of the eviction order, the fate of the residents, or how their situation will be addressed.
