Following the murder of a woman in the Cheshmeh area of Khujand city by Tajikistan’s police, an Afghan citizen named Mohammad Omar Rahmani has been arrested.
Some Afghans residing in Tajikistan have stated that after this incident, pressure on the status of Afghan refugees has increased, and around 250 Afghan families are facing the threat of possible deportation.
Sources say that after investigating the incident, security authorities have started assessing the status of Afghan refugees in the area, but no official decision regarding deportation has been announced so far.
This incident occurred at a time when the situation of Afghan refugees in Tajikistan was already considered to be sensitive.
