According to sources in Herat Province, the Taliban conducted inspections of teachers’ mobile phones at several schools across the city on Wednesday morning and monitored their activities on social media platforms.
Sources reported that following reviews of teachers’ social media activity, the Taliban detained three teachers from Resalat School in Herat City.
The sources added that the Taliban are attempting to monitor and track content, posts, and news reports that they perceive as being critical of or opposed to their rule. According to the information received, teachers’ activities on social media, including their participation in WhatsApp groups, have also been placed under surveillance.
Meanwhile, several residents of Nimroz Province stated in messages that the Taliban have expanded mobile phone inspections at various security checkpoints, and that these searches have intensified since yesterday.
The Taliban have not yet issued an official statement regarding these reports.
