The Taliban’s Ministry of Urban Development and Housing says it has allocated residential land to 65,154 families of returning migrants.
In a statement issued (Wednesday, 5 August ), the ministry announced that residential plots had been distributed to 1,163 returning migrant families across five provinces.
According to the ministry, residential land has been allocated to 693 families in Nangarhar Province, 108 families in Paktika, 112 families in Nimroz, 150 families in Faryab, and 100 families in Bamiyan.
The ministry added that the process of distributing land to returning migrants is ongoing.
Over the past three years, more than six million migrants have been returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan. The repatriation process is continuing.
The lack of adequate shelter, housing, and employment remains one of the most serious challenges facing returning migrants.
