The Pakistan army announced that in an attack by militants on a military facility in the city of Karachi, three security personnel were killed and four others were injured. According to the Pakistan Army, three attackers were also killed in the exchange of fire. The army stated that an injured attacker was also arrested, who is an Afghan national.
No further details regarding the identity of the detained individual have been provided.
On Sunday, the 7th of Saratan (Persian calendar), the Pakistan Army issued a statement announcing that the attack on the Rangers’ camp in Karachi was carried out by the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group, an affiliate of the Pakistani Taliban.
Previously, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar had claimed responsibility for the attack.
The statement said that the attackers attempted to infiltrate the camp after detonating an explosion at the main gate, but they were met with resistance from security forces and were unable to achieve their objective.
The Pakistan Army has warned that it will carry out retaliatory operations against those responsible for the attack in response to the deaths of its personnel.
