Local sources in Paktika province report that Taliban forces have detained a young man named Tasir Katwazai in Sharan, the provincial capital.
According to the sources, the young man, who had also been detained and subsequently released one week earlier, was arrested and imprisoned again on Tuesday, 27 Asad (August 18).
Local sources confirmed that the Taliban detained Katwazai for one week without presenting a court order, reportedly to “determine his crime.”
The sources added that Taliban officials told local elders to return next Wednesday to follow up on his situation, after which his case would be referred to a court.
Relatives of the young man cited his brother’s service in the former government’s security forces as the reason for his repeated arrests.
The Taliban have previously detained family members of former government security personnel.
