Taliban intelligence has reportedly seized the home of Zalmai Khan Mojaddedi, a former member of Afghanistan’s parliament representing Badakhshan Province, in Kabul’s Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood.
According to informed sources, Taliban forces evicted members of Mojaddedi’s family from the residence and stationed four armed personnel inside the property.
The sources said the family was not allowed to remove any of their personal belongings. Taliban officials reportedly told them that no one was permitted to take any property belonging to Zalmai Khan Mojaddedi out of the house.
Sources further stated that the Taliban also ordered the evacuation of another house adjacent to the property, which was also owned by Mojaddedi.
Zalmai Khan Mojaddedi, a prominent political figure from Jurm District in Badakhshan Province, left Afghanistan after the Taliban returned to power and is currently living abroad. According to the sources, the seizure of his home came in the wake of the recent unrest in Badakhshan.
The Taliban have not yet issued any official statement regarding these claims.
The reported seizure follows previous actions by the Taliban, including the confiscation of the Kabul residence of former parliamentarian Fawzia Koofi and the detention of several of her relatives.
