The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), in its latest report, has stated that from 1 January 1 to 31 March, 2026, at least 372 Afghan civilians were killed and 397 others were injured due to clashes and violence along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
UNAMA said that border tensions and airstrikes between the two countries were the main causes of civilian casualties. According to the report, women and children were also among the victims, and many families were forced to flee their homes.
UNAMA has called on all parties involved to respect international humanitarian law, prioritize the protection of civilians, and prevent the escalation of violence.
