The U.S. Department of State announced on Wednesday that it has approved the sale of military equipment to Saudi Arabia worth approximately $2 billion.
According to a statement issued by the Department, the decision was made in support of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives, with the aim of strengthening the defensive capabilities of one of Washington’s key allies in the region.
The statement also emphasized that Saudi Arabia, as a Major Non-NATO Ally, plays a significant role in maintaining political stability and promoting economic development in the Gulf region.
Following the collapse of the fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, the Islamic Republic reportedly launched missile and drone attacks targeting countries in the region on Wednesday, July 15.
In response, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the launch of a new wave of military strikes against Iran on Wednesday.
